I have been wanting to get this project completed for some time and now its on its way to being done. I built this about a year ago and it had served well but it was difficult to set up without a fence until now. I picked up the PinnAcle fence on closeout at Wood Craft and got the dust port parts while I was there as well ... I had the T-Slots so I put them in and I will make some feather boards tomorrow and install the front T-Slot for that T-slot then one day this week I will go back to Wood
It took me 4 long days to complete sharpening most of major hand tools, I still need to sharpen my card scrapers, router plane and rabbet plane. I got get some replacement blades for my No 8 jointer plane and No 12 Scraper Plane ...
I just got a set of these, and I was pretty surprised ... I was a little hesitant to shell out $11 bucks for a glorified piece of wood but they work pretty good ... They really remind me of a router mat that I bought a few years ago, they have the same type of non slip surface ... You could probably make some from those drawer liners or non slip rug liners ... But for me as busy as I am I would rather just buy them and keep going then stop and make them ... Pretty cool though, I have to admit I
Okay, this is slightly premature as this thing is half way mounted to my table saw, but already I can tell this was a smart purchase well over due for me. I have a small basement shop and space is tight. After a lot of reorganizing I can now do almost anything (table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, miter saw, drill press…) the minute I want to with no rolling things around and dust collection ready to go on all of it. The one missing piece was a router table. I recently sold my Bench Dog
The picture is a prototype I presented to the church design committee last evening ... They loved it and we are now going forward and making and installing 80 of these ... There are 2 changes I will make ... They did not like the bocote inlaid cross ... They are still deciding between bloodwood, purpleheart and wenge ... Also, I want to change the stain ... This stain brought out the grain too much and we want to only have a subtle grain ... This is 6/4 red oak ... The challenge on this project
Howdy, ... So I am new here, thus to break the ice I figured I would post a picture of my shop. At 20 this is my first personal shop, most of the tools are mine, however some of the power tools and clamps are lent from my father and uncle. There’s a space about the same size behind me, though not in a condition to be pictured right now. Oh and the shelves are level, the building is not ... From First Shop ...
Hey everyone, ... So my last blog post was about a router table for sale that I was going to pick up ... It appears that it is just the table, no fence or anything of the sort ... So is it still worth picking up cheap? I figure I can get a nice straight board of some sort, and some clamps…voila! Instant fence! ... Thoughts? ... -Silas ...
Everybody liked seeing my Earth, so I figured I put up my other Big Sculpture project ... I actually made this one a few months ago. I’m kind of hoping it sells before I move, because I don’t want to move it (and make sure it stays safe) ... It’s 5 inches wide and 4 inches thick. It was this massive, interesting piece of wood I’ve had sitting around in the shop forever. Not sure exactly where I got it but I have a vague memory of seeing it in the dirt somewhere abandoned and picking it
Got the top installed yesterday ... Not happy with the finish, though. But it’ll work. I could have saved a tremendouns amount of time by finishing with epoxy only. Two coats would have probably done it. As it is, i just keep sanding through in spots. But you can’t really tell ... First time I moved the fence, though, the plastic pad the fence slides on scratched it up, due to 15 years of debris embedded in the nylon. So, I took it off, chucked it in the lathe and faced it up so it was nice
